How Much Does A Photographer Cost?

A photographer can cost anywhere from $300 to $10,000+ dollars. Most will bid each job according to the amount of work and needs of the client, but for a basis, $100-$200 per hour is pretty typical for a professional photographer. The final cost will depend on a few factors though.

For one, there are many forms of photography: Product, Wedding, Portrait, Event, Sports, Senior Portraits, Car, and so on. Thus the price will depend on what avenue is desired and how much work each will entail. For instance, a product photographer may work for hours just to get one specific shot for an advertisement; whereas a wedding photographer will likely snap away, getting the full feel and candid nature of your special day. It is hard to equate cost with the amount of photos you will receive then. Rather, its better to look into your need and see how much that specific type of photographer will cost.

A few good questions to help understand the price would include: How many days/hours will I need this photographer for? How much effort will each Photograph take? Do you want the photographs to be edited? What quality am I you expecting to get - something to put in a magazine or something for my Instagram? Are your needs specific to a certain genera photographer or will a multi-faceted photographer work?

In addition, its good to keep in mind whether you can utilize a local photographer or if you will need to have someone travel to you. In some cases, like products, these items can be sent to the photographer and then sent back to help reduce costs. To keep cost lower, higher a local photographer to care for your needs.

The best photographers for each genera will likely be the ones that only specialize in the specific field that you need. As in any field, if someone practices an art form or skill over and over, they are more likely to excel at it, producing higher quality in quicker time. Keep in mind though, you will pay for that quality and experience.
